Carved into the rock-tombs of pharaohs and traced through millennia of Afghan mountain passes, the Afghan Hound is among the most ancient of all sighthounds. Tribal chieftains prized them for coursing leopard and gazelle across impossible terrain; they arrived in the West in the 1920s and were taken up immediately by the houses of Beaton and Vogue.
