History
Despite the French reputation, the Standard Poodle is German — the Pudel was a water retriever of 15th-century duck hunters. The breed was adopted by the French court of Louis XVI and refined into the elegant companion the world now recognizes. They are considered the second-most intelligent breed on earth.
